The World Through My Lens - Zakary Whitford Photographer, My Mission


I've been blessed to discover my passion for photography at a relatively young age. I have decided to use my talents to support a cause that is very dear to my heart. Cancer has touched my family, like so many other families within my community. I don't think I know anyone who hasn't had a friend or family member battle some form of cancer. I know the devastation that cancer leaves behind as both my Aunt Sharon and Grandpa battled this horrific disease. Unfortunately they both recently passed away. They were both a very important part of my life and they are the inspiration for my mission against cancer. I have decided to donate my proceeds from the sales of my photo greeting cards to the Canadian Cancer Society in their memory. I believe that ever bit counts and that together as a community we can make a significant difference in the world. It's about working together so that one day we can find the answers and the cure for this dreadful disease and the suffering will end.
UPDATE September 2010: On September 11, 2010 I was able to donate over $500.00 to the Guelph Canadian Cancer Society. Kim Henry, the Fundraising Coordinator for the Guelph Cancer Society office came to receive my donation at the Arthur Fair where I was selling my greeting cards and framed photos. I was very happy to make my first donation to the Canadian Cancer Society and I'm so grateful that I am able to do it. This is only the beginning though, and I hope i can really make a difference as time goes on and as my career as a professional photographer moves forward. Facing cancer is devastating for the patients and their families and it often leaves families broken. While operating my business I have met so many wonderful people from so many places. It is very rewarding to know that the cause I am supporting helps my customers through some of the toughest trials they will have. I am a big believer that the world needs more kindness and that supporting each other can really make a difference to everyone. I love that I can help my community and the people in it while doing what I love, photography. Look for me at this years Relay for Life in Fergus. Together we can move mountains.
